Project 366

A project I undertook in 2012 to share one photograph I took each day of that leap year. The subjects are diverse and show the development of my own photographic skills as I learned how to use my camera and compose photographs as I wanted them to be seen and enjoyed.

The Last Soft Toy-122/365

Isn't this a sweet picture? (Almost too sweet?) Looks as if Joni had found her new best friend? Don't be deceived.  This was taken just before the death of Lamb Chop. In fact, if you look at this, the first part of the destruction had already started. The first soft pink ear is already being chewed off as she looks at us so innocently. This was within 5 minutes of the introduction of Lamb Chop to Joni on Saturday afternoon. I won't go through the gory details of the process, but you should know that by Monday morning she had been disembowelled and today she is a shred of fluffy fabric, minus squeakers, ears, in fact almost everything.

So Lamb Chop is the last fluffy toy for Joni. From now on it's tough toys only. Even the famous blue balls have been chewed up and eaten (at least mostly eaten). So we are in the market for some indestructibles. Any suggestions? (Preferably blue, by the way, and if they can be bounced like the blue ball, then that would be a bonus.)

Feast for a Bee-121/365

The magnolia tree is out in full bloom and the bees are busy gathering the pollen. They barely took any notice of me hovering over the blooms as they foraged between these anemone-like centres of the flowers. Take all you can carry, little bees, these flowers last only a very short time! (I wonder what magnolia honey might taste like?) The perfume is almost overpowering, with such a large tree so full of flowers.

Bugshirt – the essential Frisbee Accessory-120/365

Spring and summer are such wonderful seasons and we look forward to them so much after a long, hard winter. It is so wonderful to get outside and really enjoy nature. But with the warmth come the bugs: the nasty biting black flies that hover in clouds around your head and you don't notice that you are being bitten until they have been and gone and you have a bleeding and swelling sore spot behind your ear, or in your hair, a spot that festers and easily becomes infected; the mosquitoes that swarm in the evenings and make sitting outside impossible. Games of Frisbee have to be enjoyed with full concentration, not with the constant irritation and brushing away of these pesky creatures. So here is the solution. Steven is modelling The Bug Shirt, the essential accessory to Frisbee games. With each of us having one, we can really focus on the game at hand. 😀

Which way did I come in here?-119/365

Shelly got me in a ladybird mood yesterday and I was sitting on the grass (in my bug shirt) watching a Frisbee game going on when this little lady happened by. There seemed to be so much grass. And such a small ladybird. How does she find her way around? Much better to fly, I think.
