Painting the Trim-118/365

Window trim has been custom made and now is in place and complete on one window (the rest has to wait for other work in other areas). Steven was painting this yesterday evening. It's so hard choosing colours of paint. So far we are happy with our choices. Swiss Coffee on the walls (Behr) and Almond Whisp. Sounds as if you could eat it. This is the eating end of the kitchen. For those who don't know. Lighting is all in place, with wireless remotes! Very convenient, not so many wires to pull through, so cheaper for electrician.

Tendrils Reaching Out in a Soft and Gentle Embrace-117/365

This was unexpected, not what I was planning to photograph at all. I had a lovely group of three of these, was getting into just the right position to photograph them when out of the blue (literally) two white paws landed right on one of them and the third was broken on the grass. And my grouping was now two. It no longer worked at all. Then I saw this lonely bloom and this was it.

Is this for the 365 project? I don't know any more. I take what I can and post when I can. So for the moment I keep the tag and the numbers. But they might go, so if they do, don't be surprised, but keep following if you like. And forget the numbers (in the (almost) words of my friend +Ursula Klepper).

Spring Rain and Mist Over the Valley-116/365 May 12, 2014

It was pouring with rain when I was driving up to the T junction looking towards one of my favourite views. The colours that show that Spring is really on the way were just beginning to show. The warm red of the earth in the freshly ploughed field in front, the darker red of the budding branches in the trees behind and the grey-greens in front of the mist at the foot of the North Mountain had patches of still yellow vegetation waiting to burst forth in renewed growth. If you zoom in you can see birds (eagles? seagulls? possibly both) soaring in the dark sky, as well as the rain slanting past the trees. I had to quickly take this photograph before I got rain spots on the lens. This is the fruitful Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia in the Spring. Before the blossoms spread across orchards. Before the green corn shoots seem to grow overnight taller than a man. A pause before it all bursts forth.

This is a Bumblebee (Patience Pays Off) (115/365)

Today I tried another tactic: I just sat there, in the patch of periwinkle flowers with the camera ready and waited. I hoped that at some point one or more of these little creatures would come within range of my lens. As I was already sitting there, I would already be at the right level and would just need to focus wherever they were. The light kept changing from brilliant sun to shadow as the sun came and went behind the clouds, so I switched from manual to AV and let the camera do the adjustments on the fly (get it? 😉 )

So my patience paid off. I love the way the fur on his little back is so neatly combed. I chose this one for this reason, while another I took showed amazing long hairs on little legs that you can't see at this angle. How shiny his legs are.
