Frisbee Lesson #1 (100/365)

The day of the first Frisbee lesson arrived. The snow was (mostly) melted, it was possible to throw it and not have it disappear from view. Joni was used to the idea of bringing back her blue ball to be thrown for her. You can almost see Joni's brain ticking over in this image. She had seen it thrown for her, she had run after it, had managed to pick it up (not easy when it landed on the concrete, not as easy as a ball, anyway) and could see that she was supposed to know what to do next. She was just not ready to give it up quite yet.

She still (after this was taken, on April 20th) enjoys doing a victory lap or two before bringing it back to be thrown again. But she has the idea now of how it works. A whole lifetime of Frisbee catching is before her. Next to playing with Aria (another border collie) nothing will get rid of her pent up energy as well as a Frisbee game!

Nearly Coffee Time (99/365)

Starting as I mean to go on! With a huge espresso (black, +Lynn David Newton just as you like it) made specially for my friends on the #coffeethursday  team. (It must be Thursday very soon, somewhere…)

This is another of the mugs we have collected over the years. For some reason I think of it mostly when making hot chocolate. When I thought of taking a photograph for Coffee Thursday, this was a mug I wanted to share, so I set up the machine for a double shot of espresso, not noticing that the level of water had been pushed up above our usual. (I like it strong with less water.) By the time I noticed it was too late to change it and I watched (and photographed as it got fuller and fuller and then stopped, just as it hit the brim. It was a bit tricky to get it out from under the machine, but I managed. And I drank it all. I think I got a lot done that day!

I just got the call that coffee is ready today, so I had better post this and go and enjoy this next one. 😀 Happy Wednesday everyone!

Random Shapes and Shadows (98/365)

On this particular day I was just lying on the sofa when I saw these interesting shapes created on the floor by the sun and shadow. They really appealed to me so, for no other reason than this, here they are.

I am a little confused by the fact that I think that I am on number 98 of the 365 (according to my figures) but G+ albums tells me there are 105 images in it. Very odd, too much for me to work out at this point.

I am working at the moment at particularly challenging work on Steven's website (with a shop component, so people can buy his work online and a few new things). So other fun projects have to be put aside for the moment.. Joni still gets her games (but outside, with lots of running on her part) and the building work is progressing, but we are still in a building site.

I had hoped to post two images today, but time has run away with me and I am going out tonight. Good intentions fly out the window, let's aim for two tomorrow! Night all. 😀

Aria (97/365)

Last year, when old Joni was out walking with Steven, they saw a young border collie pup coming along the path toward them. Joni was absolutely terrified at this sight, for some strange reason. It was almost as if she thought she was looking at herself in the past, as a young pup. Eventually, the next few times they met, she gradually tolerated having this pup come near her, though she pretty much ignored her.

Now this is Aria, almost a year old. And she and our young Joni are already great friends. These two border collies tear around like lunatics together, Aria wanting sticks thrown for her (as here) and Joni trying to herd Aria. It's one sure way for two young dogs to burn off some energy.
