Project 366

A project I undertook in 2012 to share one photograph I took each day of that leap year. The subjects are diverse and show the development of my own photographic skills as I learned how to use my camera and compose photographs as I wanted them to be seen and enjoyed.

Well… I Thought it was a Plant

I had begun to see less and less well as I got closer to my eye surgery, but I was determined to get a photograph of a flower or plant for the week's theme. So I called into the local florist's shop and asked if I could photograph the flowers and plants. They were happy to oblige, saying that the flowers were in the cold room at the back, but the plants were in the front. I thought I would try the plants and was so delighted with the hanging spider plants that I spent my time photographing the little spider babies. They all looked so healthy and heavy with baby plantlets that, when my phone rang and I had to get on my way, I decided not to bother with the flowers but to go with one of these photographs.

It was not until I got home and got these onto the computer that I saw that…. they were not real. They are fabric. I am just so glad that I didn't buy one, which I had been tempted to do. Or comment on how easy they were to care for… which I might have done. :-/

Hopefully I will be seeing much better, very soon, now that my surgery is done. Time will tell. 😀

Week 48: Flowers or Plants

Ontario Autumn Fields

I spent a grey day in Ontario driving around the area that I had briefly lived in, when I was in my teens. As I drove back towards Galetta, I suddenly saw these bright sumac leaves and the red bushes behind, nicely framing the pale, newly harvested fields. I reversed the car back up the road to be able to photograph it.

I drove around to try to take the photograph when the sky was not quite so dull, but I never found the spot again. I wish the countryside still looked like this… but it will be pretty with all the snow soon, no doubt.

I might not be making many submissions for a while as I go for eye surgery on Monday, but I didn't want to miss the #farmfriday  posting today. +Farm Friday is, of course curated by +Steven Kennard and +Sofie Løve Forsberg and myself +Ellie Kennard.

Halifax Farmer's Market and Seaport after Sunset

One afternoon last week we went to an exhibition at the Mary Black Gallery in Halifax. As we came out of the gallery and started to walk up the street, I liked this scene and leaned against a car to take it (had no tripod with me and it would have taken too long to set up, the cyclists would have been long gone.

This street and buildings are on the waterfront of Halifax harbour, with the newly renovated Farmer's Market building on the left with the lights.

Pier 21, the location for all of these buildings on the right, was the place where many war brides and other Canadian immigrants first set foot in their new country, after their boat trip from Europe. There is a small museum, I believe, in the building behind us, with (on the street in front) a train carriage, typical of those used to carry these people on the last leg of their long journey, to their new homes across the country.

Google- The Latest Bug is Making Sharing Albums Very Difficult

Edit: Bug is Chrome related. Use Internet Explorer as a Workaround

Not sure when this started, but it seems that when trying to organize the photos in an album from the Share dialogue, or even just within the album itself, the images are no longer visible – the look like these boxes.

Impossible to see your images to 'organize' them.

Please fix!
