You just never know who you will meet on your walk around Canning. The little faces say it all. This was taken in exactly the same spot as the flooded street and the ice formation.
This street and buildings are on the waterfront of Halifax harbour, with the newly renovated Farmer's Market building on the left with the lights.
Pier 21, the location for all of these buildings on the right, was the place where many war brides and other Canadian immigrants first set foot in their new country, after their boat trip from Europe. There is a small museum, I believe, in the building behind us, with (on the street in front) a train carriage, typical of those used to carry these people on the last leg of their long journey, to their new homes across the country.
