Project 366

A project I undertook in 2012 to share one photograph I took each day of that leap year. The subjects are diverse and show the development of my own photographic skills as I learned how to use my camera and compose photographs as I wanted them to be seen and enjoyed.

Day: 1/365 – Self Portrait

I am looking forward to my 2014 project of a photo a day, so thought that a self-portrait would be a good way to start the year. You can see by my serious expression that I am determined to see this project through. 🙂 I hope to see some of you on the same journey this year or just watching from the sidelines.

Beautiful Flowers for Every Month!

I have just received an absolutely beautiful gift in the mail, from a dear G+ friend in Germany and it means so much to me because every month of this lovely calendar features a flower photograph she has taken. And I remember every one, as I saw them posted here on G+. What a wonderful way to start every month – by gazing at a lovely flower portrait taken by this friend. (And it also gives me a quick course in German – at the least it will teach me the names of the months!)

I am so delighted that I had to take this to show that it will have pride of place in my living room. With many hugs to my dear friend. And thanks. (And now to go and tell my cats off for scratching the furniture, though it could have been at any time in the past 16 years, so I won’t be too hard on them!)

Playing Fields

This was a special night in August, when we still had Joni with us. She was beginning to show the effects of her illness, so I had walked her on a shorter than usual route to meet Steven who had taken the long walk she usually enjoyed so much. Joni and I had come along the path through the woods and out along the edge of the playing field where I saw that the clouds in the sky were most unusual, after the sun had just set. We walked further on and sat to rest at the picnic table just at the edge of the path where we would begin our walk back home. I looked back at the playing field and really liked the way the lights over the playing field silhouetted the trees so well, and formed an interesting foil to the strange striated cloud layers. Joni sat and waited while I balanced my camera on the picnic table and took this photograph.

After Our First Snowshoe Walk

We got each other snowshoes for our wedding anniversary presents this year and today was the first day we were able to go for a walk in them. It was snowing hard, it was -12 C (10 F) so was a bit warmer than yesterday, but with a very strong wind. Several people asked to see pics of us in our snowshoes and to hear how it went, so here is the one Steven took of me. Mine of him will come on another day.

Easy to walk in, really good exercise, so we didn’t really notice the cold and felt positively warm by the time we got home. We walked on the path that goes through the woods in the nature trail and through some fields and eventually back up along the road for a short distance. The snowshoes were amazingly comfortable and light. They didn’t slip on the icy road and even worked well in the deep snow. A great success!
(They are MSR made in the USA – Lightning models, which does not describe the speed at which we were walking, in case you wondered :D)
+Ursula Klepper – I know you wanted to know how they worked out.
