Project 366

A project I undertook in 2012 to share one photograph I took each day of that leap year. The subjects are diverse and show the development of my own photographic skills as I learned how to use my camera and compose photographs as I wanted them to be seen and enjoyed.

Rupert in a Sunny Window – 28/365

Rupert has been enjoying playing with the new puppy, but at times he needs to escape to his cat tower and just meditate in the sun streaming in the window. (Cornish Rex cats have short curly fur as you see and at the moment Rupert has shed a lot of it and is regrowing his coat. It's a seasonal thing.)

I have been trying to improve my understanding of how to use an external flash. With the weather we have been having, either very snowy or sunny but icy and slippery or rainy, there is not so much chance to photograph out of doors. Many of my photographs taken with flash were disappointing to me, so I thought I should try to find out why and what I can do to improve them. This was taken using the flash to fill Rupert's face, as he was turned from the sun. I was not displeased with it. I bounced the flash and used Gary Fong's diffuser to soften and spread it.

Sinking in the Snow – 27/365

When you are out walking a puppy in all weathers and at all times of the day and into the night, you stop and admire all kinds of things that you might never notice in other circumstances. This leaf was sinking into the snow during a temporary melt. I loved the leathery texture in the middle of the crunchy ice crystals.

Joni's New Toy – 26/365

Joni got a new toy on Saturday, given to her by the lovely little boy who lives across the road. Actually he brought her several toys as he is almost her greatest admirer. She is a very appreciative receiver of gifts, always playing very enthusiastically with whatever comes her way. If she could stick to her toys that would be no bad thing, but I guess at 8 weeks she still has a lot to learn.   #noapologies  for another puppy pic. Hope it makes you all smile.

Half a Cup of Cilantro / Coriander – 25/365

I do a lot of cooking. We are vegetarian and I eat almost exclusively a plant based diet. I cook all our food from scratch and love to make meals that are interesting, tasty and full of herbs and spices as well as being nutritious. In a recent +Meatless Monday posting I came across a recipe for a vegetarian Moroccan Tagine (recipe link below).  When Steven came back from Halifax on Saturday, he brought me a set of lovely stainless measuring cups and I set about making this new recipe, using the measuring cups. I prefer to gather all my ingredients together before starting my preparations and as I chopped the fresh cilantrol leaves into the measuring cup, I thought how lovely they looked on the black stove top. So of course this is the photograph I took of it.

The recipe was a success, but in future I will make one that does not call for curry powder as such, but uses the individual spices, which will be far more interesting, I'm sure. : (https://plus.google.com/109740683483472985149/posts/7SXPQRkfssA
