Project 366

A project I undertook in 2012 to share one photograph I took each day of that leap year. The subjects are diverse and show the development of my own photographic skills as I learned how to use my camera and compose photographs as I wanted them to be seen and enjoyed.

Nearly Coffee Time (99/365)

Starting as I mean to go on! With a huge espresso (black, +Lynn David Newton just as you like it) made specially for my friends on the #coffeethursday  team. (It must be Thursday very soon, somewhere…)

This is another of the mugs we have collected over the years. For some reason I think of it mostly when making hot chocolate. When I thought of taking a photograph for Coffee Thursday, this was a mug I wanted to share, so I set up the machine for a double shot of espresso, not noticing that the level of water had been pushed up above our usual. (I like it strong with less water.) By the time I noticed it was too late to change it and I watched (and photographed as it got fuller and fuller and then stopped, just as it hit the brim. It was a bit tricky to get it out from under the machine, but I managed. And I drank it all. I think I got a lot done that day!

I just got the call that coffee is ready today, so I had better post this and go and enjoy this next one. 😀 Happy Wednesday everyone!

Random Shapes and Shadows (98/365)

On this particular day I was just lying on the sofa when I saw these interesting shapes created on the floor by the sun and shadow. They really appealed to me so, for no other reason than this, here they are.

I am a little confused by the fact that I think that I am on number 98 of the 365 (according to my figures) but G+ albums tells me there are 105 images in it. Very odd, too much for me to work out at this point.

I am working at the moment at particularly challenging work on Steven's website (with a shop component, so people can buy his work online and a few new things). So other fun projects have to be put aside for the moment.. Joni still gets her games (but outside, with lots of running on her part) and the building work is progressing, but we are still in a building site.

I had hoped to post two images today, but time has run away with me and I am going out tonight. Good intentions fly out the window, let's aim for two tomorrow! Night all. 😀

Sometimes a Dog Just Needs to Run in the Woods (96/365)

The day this was taken, Joni and I were out inspecting damage done to the woods by the many winter storms we had this year. Joni wasn't too bothered by the fallen branches as she just loves to jump over any obstacles and to grab sticks to chew for a few minutes. There were a lot of broken branches and some were the size of small trees. Some had fallen on the apple trees, breaking branches as they fell. There is a lot of clearing up to do.

She will soon be 5 months old as I write this, but this was taken on April 16, so over a week ago now.

Surf Scoters (95/365)

The last of the wildlife photographs for today, this one was another 'lifer' for me, as I had never seen surf scoters before this trip. They were spotted off Corkum's Island, very near where I saw the snowy egret, on "First South".

I was very taken with the faces of these diving ducks (see a couple diving on the right side), as they had wonderful markings that reminded me of a fashion statement that is made by some young people. They put a huge grommet in their ear or nose and it looks as if it is a round black hole. I find it a rather odd look for a human being (and I have had trouble trying to stop staring at it when being served by a shop assistant sporting one or more of these). For a diving duck it seems somehow just right.

(You have this photograph instead of one of construction work, as somehow I think you will find it more interesting!)
