Crimson Flax

I found this little lone beauty in my patch of wild flowers that I sowed a while back with the assistance of raccoons and skunks, you might recall. While there are some flowers (cornflowers among them) that are growing in multiples and whose photographs you will see on here in due course, this one grew alone. I hope it might continue next year and have more than one bloom. Still, I am happy to see it and be able to share it with you today. Enjoy your day, my friends. Common Evening Primrose

Evening Primrose
Evening Primrose

It seems insulting to call this “Common” Evening Primrose. But partly because this is how it is ‘commonly’ known, commonly found around here at this time of year and partly to differentiate it from another ‘evening primrose’ post I have made on here, it seems the only thing to do. I can remember buying Evening Primrose Oil for years, many years ago, so I know it is a very useful plant. But also I remember almost as many years ago applying for a job at the factory near here where they manufactured this oil. The beauty and grace of the flower itself is enough for me to share another photo of it for you today, to wish you a day with sunshine that warms your hearts. View all posts on the Home page. Stonecrop

Stonecrop

The tiny bunches on this plant are well worth stopping to examine, with their tiny spiky filaments on those beautiful rich pink and white florets. The family they belong to has apparently about 600 members and is also called Sedum. It is really happy growing on any dry rocky soil and although it will spread it is not invasive and easy to remove if it starts to get out of hand. The name indicates that it is low growing, or possibly that it has sedative properties according to a quick Google search. I could certainly sit calmly and look at it for hours, so I hope you enjoy this brief glimpse of a relaxing plant today. I hope the rest of the day is equally calm for you. Double Daylily

Double daylily
Double daylily

Sometimes it’s the quality of light that draws me to a particular flower, but in this case, along with the evening golden hour there was the added element of these beautiful double frilled petals. These grow beside a rotting stump and turn the area into a jewel box of colour and texture. I am never bored with seeing daylilies and so you run the risk of seeing at least one more daylily photograph this year before they are finished. If the thought of this is too much for you, I apologise in advance and hope that you can bring yourself to enjoy their beauty, today and the next time(s). If you see beauty in your day, enjoy it and capture it in your memory or camera if you have one, my friends. We need it in this world these days. View all posts on the Home page. A Flower a Day #350
