This cheery flower on its tall stem appears to float above the garden, in my ‘rewilded’ patch. There are several of these in that patch, which is quite gratifying for me and for the insects and I notice that I took more photographs of one of these yesterday. I think that was because I was fascinated by the tiny detail in the centre and the way the pattern spreads along each petal and that each time I see a more recent bloom I think it looks even better than the last. I hope this brings some sunshine to your day, today. View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #357

Yucca

Steven had mentioned these yucca flowers to me but it had been a day or two before I could get to them to take the photo as the weather had taken a turn for the worse. When I finally got there, the rain had beaten down their tall stems so that they were lying over onto the ground and the bank next to them. I lay on the grassy bank, aiming along at them and managed to get this photo, raindrops and all. The next time I passed them they had all been staked upright and very neat and tidy and had a whole new lease of life. If the day beats you down, a cheering word from a friend will lift your spirits in the same way. So if one of you needs a little metaphorical staking, here is that word for you along with the lovely flower. View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #356

Chinese Bellflower

Chinese bellflower, campanula, or Flax

You can see that I am really not sure on the identification of this little gem. As I no longer remember where I took the photo, I can’t go back and check, so I am taking a stab at the name in the title of this post, while keeping the options open in the photograph description above. As I say so frequently, the accuracy of the name is not my main objective. I really just want to share a little of the beauty of some of the flowers around me. With that in mind, I hope you enjoy a glimpse into this lovely bloom with its purple veined petals and tiny towered centre and that it brightens your day in a small way. Gooseneck Loosestrife

The exquisite, cascading bouquet of tiny flowers that you see here is growing under a hedge beside the footpath in our village. I had never seen these before, so they made me catch my breath as the evening light fell just on to the top of this spray, with its open flowers. All of the others were in the shadow and almost obscured from view. Life is full of wonderful surprises if you keep your eyes open, expecting them to appear when least expected, if you don’t mind this apparent contradiction. Dear readers, I hope that today brings you all something happily surprising and as delightful as this. You will see below a different way to view galleries I have made so far of the images, by month.
