Just Hanging Around-130/365

Yesterday was the first lovely evening we have had in a long time, with a lovely warm light (only warm in colour, not so warm in temperature yet), so Joni and I were just hanging around the frisbee throwing area while Steven got on with the weeding in the flower beds. Who had the more fun? No prizes for guessing.

Hanging on a Cliff Edge at Low Tide (112/365)

Sounds like how life feels, sometimes. It looks precarious, but what we don't see in this photograph is that there are huge boulders at the base of this cliff that prevent it and the tree from washing into the sea. They were placed there for that purpose. Again, this is similar to our lives. Make sure that we have a good solid base around which to plant our roots and nothing will uproot us. Without that, we cannot stand for long.

Ottawa Valley Barn in the Fall

I have been wanting to share this image ever since I took it, last fall.  I had recently been working on my G+ mentorship for Visionary Landscapes, mentored by +Sairam Sundaresan, part of the +G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers. I was looking for an image that would be special, as a memory of my mentorship and of my trip back to Ontario, very near where I used to live, just before I left Canada to live in Europe, when I was young.

When I saw this scene, I was intrigued by the beautiful round roofed pigeon loft (I think?) side of this old barn. It just stood out next to the lovely autumn foliage. I went back more than once during my brief stay there to try to get the photograph just as I wanted it, but it was overcast or actually pouring with rain. This particular time the elements were there and I got what I wanted. I hope it brings back memories of lovely autumn days and that you like it.

This will also serve to remind everyone that tomorrow is Farm Friday, so you can get your farming related images ready to share. +Farm Friday  #farmfriday  curated by myself and +Steven Kennard

It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over – 57/365

Sunset over the dykes in the Annapolis valley
Sunset over the dykes in the Annapolis valley

The sun was setting as we were coming home last evening and so this scene was a gift to me. I have been so busy this week that I have had little time to do everything I want. So when this image came into view, I jumped out of the car and took the photograph. It is looking across the dykes in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. The sun as it set almost looked like a red torch (or flashlight) beaming up from the horizon. By the time I stopped to get this, it had changed, but still was lovely.
