Project 366

A project I undertook in 2012 to share one photograph I took each day of that leap year. The subjects are diverse and show the development of my own photographic skills as I learned how to use my camera and compose photographs as I wanted them to be seen and enjoyed.

Goodnight from Farm Friday

In album Farming

The night of the full moon, I took this as we walked past this lovely old red barn in the dark.

So it's goodnight for tonight from me to the rest of the Farm Friday crew! +Steven Kennard +Sofie Løve Forsberg and +Farm Friday

My Favourite Farm in the Rain and Wind

In album Farming

Reminder! Farm Friday is just around the corner! So if you can get out and photograph a farming related subject near you … if you're in the city, have you a farmers' market you could share with us? And if you can't get out why not dig out the farm photos you took a while ago and dust them off ready for our #farmfriday  theme tomorrow. If in doubt as to how to post to our theme, (curated by +Steven Kennard – our farm Friday manager, our European farm girl +Sofie Løve Forsberg and myself) then nip over to the page (+Farm Friday)  and read all about it on the About page!

Every time I drive along the road and see this farm with its beautiful old barn, I want to photograph it. I have taken photos of it from most angles and in different seasons and I love it more every time I see it. Here you see it in the wind and rain of early fall.

See you all tomorrow! Happy farming. 🙂

There is no Good Time to Say Goodbye

There's no Good Time to Say Goodbye - Ellie Kennard 2013
There’s no Good Time to Say Goodbye – Ellie Kennard 2013

On my walk with Joni a while ago I took this as I loved the gentle bowing of the Queen Anne’s Lace heads at the end of the season and their soft tones and colours against the late summer grasses. Now it seems that we are having to say goodbye in a different way.

Joni, our 13 year old border collie that some here will know as my faithful companion on my photo walks and from our many photographs of her, has been diagnosed with a brain tumour 6 weeks ago and so we know that our time with her is coming to an end. It is becoming more apparent that it is progressing now, sadly.

I will miss her loving companionship and faithfulness more than I can say. I am (we both are) spending as much time as I can with her these days, getting my work done too, so I have not had as much time to spend with my G+ friends. Hold on to the special moments with your animal companions. They will be the warm memories that will stay with you long after the pain of loss has dimmed.

Hunter's Moon

In album Skyscapes

This is called Hunter's Moon because my friend Hunter specially wanted me to photograph it as he was so excited to see how amazing it looked. He chose the best viewpoint to get it, with the twisted branches and leaves contrasted against the red ring around the moon. He even stood still at one point for me to balance my camera on his head so I could get a photograph that was closer to what he was seeing. Hunter made a very good tripod "head" as he is 8 years old and therefore was a perfect height.

You are a great location scout, Hunter. Thank you!

A Hunter's moon really does exist as you can find out at this link. So this is an early Hunter's Moon for real!
