Project 366

A project I undertook in 2012 to share one photograph I took each day of that leap year. The subjects are diverse and show the development of my own photographic skills as I learned how to use my camera and compose photographs as I wanted them to be seen and enjoyed.

Rustabelle Louise Freshly Coiffed-126/365

Rustabelle Louise came over with her young owner yesterday looking very fresh and clean, straight from the groomer's. She was hoping to play with Joni. I couldn't resist this for the doggy themes today! She is a labradoodle and lives across the road from us, so is a regular playmate for Joni. Joni tries to herd her, of course.

Forget Me Not-125/365

Right at the top of the Frisbee playing part of the garden I found a tiny patch of these lovely flowers. There are only a few of them and they are much smaller and more delicate than I remember from seeing Forget Me Nots in the past. I remember them being tall and rather hairy looking. I love the way these have buds of pale mauve (which do have little hairs on them) that turn into pale pink flowers and then these become blue. So you see the full spectrum in the sprig.

Incidentally, I forgot to wear my bug shirt in my haste to get out and was bitten by a black fly. Note to self: Do not forget the bug shirt in the future!

The Heart of the Matter-124/365

These flowers are so intricately designed, with such delicacy of detail, I am constantly amazed by the beauty of flowers. These turn into dragons, when they fully develop, by the way.

Our Magnolia 2014-123/365

When we moved here, this magnolia was about 7 feet tall. It is now …. this big! Our friend Ursula in Germany wanted to see a photograph of it, so here it is, for you! Also, our American friend Lynn posted pictures of his magnolia tree, day by day, until it became covered with snow! So perhaps he would like to see it too – we have no snow here, I’m glad to say. I think this was the best day for it, as most of the flowers were out and hardly any had lost their petals. They last such a short time, it’s sad really. I like the fact that the forsythia is so rich and yellow behind it with all of this colour and scent, flanking the drive. It’s such a welcoming sight.
