Welcome to October! This carmine beauty is also growing in our neighbour’s farm that I have mentioned a few times lately – Seven Acres Farm. When I was wandering around a few weeks ago (all the way back in August, now that I think about it!!) I spotted these lovely small flowers that are like brilliant dots with their pale centres and outstretched arms – so pretty in the detail when you look closely at them. They remind me a bit of everlasting flowers I have posted in the past and I found out that these flowers last for a lot longer than the helichrysums and also dry well, retaining their colour for dried displays in the winter. Snow season is not here yet (we still have the glory of autumn to look forward to) but this seems a perfect way to preserve some of the summer colour to keep our spirits up during the cold months to come when we spend so much time indoors. Enjoy the splash of colour today, my friends. Along with a warm hug. You can click or tap the image above to view in large in the gallery directly now, a new development on my posts. Common Tansy

Common Tansy

Common Tansy

For the last post of the month, after the exotic blooms of the last couple of days, we are back in the wild today with a simple flower, common tansy, also known as golden buttons or bitter buttons (among other names). I love these tight little yellow heads grouped together literally dotting the roadsides, brightening up the countryside along with other bright yellow autumn wildflowers, such as goldenrod. If you have rain then maybe this will brighten up the morning for you, and if not, then hang on to it for the next rainy day. Rain or shine, enjoy your day, my friends. Blue Chinese Aster

Blue Chinese Aster

I can’t resist sharing another of the Chinese asters from the local farm (having mentioned them yesterday), so today we are treated to a beautiful blue one, with a couple of white satellite buds around it. I wanted a blue flower for the look of the gallery (is that OCD?) but I hope that your day is delicious like this colour, but also sunny and warm. Glad

Gladiolus

Gladiolus

There is a farm just down the road from me where, among other produce, the farmer sells flower bouquets on her roadside stand. I featured her Chinese asters for my anniversary posting, you might recall. She lets me wander among her beds and photograph the flowers, so here you see a gladiolus of hers. We had quite a bit of rain before this, so that normally upright, this gladiolus was beaten a little off straight, but still as lovely as ever. Steven’s granddad used to refer to these as ‘glads’ which is such a cheery name, so that’s what my post is titled. You don’t get a full bouquet today, but a single stem with several flowers, which is just as good. Have a lovely day, my friends.
