Late Rose at Sunset

Late Rose at Sunset

Late Rose at Sunset

Sunsets give us such joy when we see the brilliant colours spread across the sky. Sometimes, though, it’s worth looking around us to see what these last sun’s rays do to the things they touch. I had seen this rose bush on my walk a week or so ago and marvelled that some were still in bloom, surrounded as they were by the hips of past flowers. As I went past them on this particular evening, the setting sun was just touching this rose, transforming it with even a richer colour. I ran onto the lawn where it grew and took 3 photographs of it within seconds. I knew the light was going and so I had to move fast. This was the first, but the second and third had lost it. I knew it when I took them. I am so glad I got this to share with you all and to hopefully brighten your Saturday with the glow of sunset enhancing the natural beauty of the flower. Pale Marigold

Pale Marigold

Pale, frilly, fluffy nestly, boudoir Marigold

This is such a frilly, fluffy nestly, boudoir kind of flower, this pale, soft marigold that I fear it will put off the male viewers of the post. But maybe not, as everyone, even the most macho of men has a softer side, and this will hopefully speak to that in everyone. Once again this is the product of one of the seeds in the little white envelope so I don’t have any idea of the variety. The good thing about that is that I get to name it, and I think my choice is pretty creative, don’t you? Once again I am being bathed in golden sunlight through the leaves outside of my window as I write this, as despite the wind and rain we have had, there are still a lot of them clinging desperately to the branches. So I wish you all a glowing golden day, with a good amount of soft, gentle moments like this flower, to bring you joy. View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #419

Tansy Aster

Tansy Aster

Tansy Aster

This is a nicely blue aster to greet you on another Happy WWAD! As I write this the sun is shining brightly here and the gold colours of the leaves in the front of our house are reflecting a warm glow on me through the window. I have a post I am soon going to make to treat you all to some fall colours around here and I will give you the link to it when it is ready (I don’t send out an email for posts other than Flower a Day ones currently). There have been some beautiful sights this year. Meanwhile, today you can enjoy the thought of these rich blue petals with the yellow centre contrasting so nicely. Warm hugs to you all, my friends. Pink Morning Glory

Pink Morning Glory

Pink Morning Glory

Believe it or not, this morning glory is growing at the moment, not 200 metres from us, twined around a low stump. Of course I saw it on a walk and kept thinking that I should bring my camera back to take the photograph of it. I haven’t been bringing my camera on every walk any longer, which is obviously a mistake. I went back the next evening and found I had almost missed it and the morning glories were in evening mode, closing up. I took the photo anyway and was determined to go back the next morning to get some in full bloom. The next day it was pouring with rain. A friend came round for coffee and I was telling her about this and she glanced out the window and said “why don’t we go and get it now?” So we did, even in the rain. The things I do to get my flowers for you! This late morning glory, complete with raindrops is my gift to you today. You will find a link to all the past galleries by month in the main post (below).
