Blue Cowslip

Blue Cowslip

I hope this blue flower doesn’t give you a blue day, but cheers you when you look at these lovely little blooms. I have a feeling they were growing in my wilded patch (thank you raccoons), but wherever they were, they were unusual. They are quite small, perhaps easily missed, which is a shame when they are so lovely. I am learning to take a look at small things I might have crushed underfoot in a previous existence, pre 2020. I have learned so much from them (and from you all). Have a lovely day, maybe looking closely at small things! View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #451

Gold Marigold

Gold Marigold

Gold Marigold

Golden sunshine is always appreciated I think, unless you are reading this in the desert, in which case move along to a more sombre post on here if you find one! I know that the very name marigold implies gold, but I have shared some which were much less rich in colour. This was such a deep gold, framed by those blue-green frondy leaves behind it, so the title seemed fitting for something so lovely, shining on us today. I hope today’s glowing image is just the start of such richesse through your day. Until tomorrow, friends. View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #449

Texas Sage

Texas Sage

Texas Sage

Well look at that! I skidded right into December without so much as a tip of the hat! I forgot entirely to make us a new gallery for the month, but now it is all done and we can continue into the month without confusion. To make up for it, I am presenting this bright carmine beauty which is, or I should say ‘was’ growing in my wilded patch of garden. It was a surprise to see such a rich coloured red flower and even more so to find that it comes from Texas. The biggest surprise of all, however, is that Texas Sage (one of the Salvias) is not listed anywhere among the packets of seeds I sowed. How did it get there? It will remain a mystery, for now at least, but we can still enjoy its delicate individual blooms that resemble some exotic bird of paradise taking flight, in today’s post. I hope your day contains some delightful anomalies such as this, my friends. View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #448

Silvery Lupine

Silvery Lupine

Silvery Lupine

There have been lupins (lupines) blooming on the roadside on our walk right up until about a week ago. They might still be there, but no doubt looking very sorry for themselves. These are a particularly lovely variety, quite possibly those same ones. They have edible seeds, but they are tiny and the harvesting and processing is laborious. I prefer just to admire their loveliness during the long season when they are in bloom. Hugs to all! (December Gallery will be added here later today.)
