Texas Sage

Texas Sage

Texas Sage

Well look at that! I skidded right into December without so much as a tip of the hat! I forgot entirely to make us a new gallery for the month, but now it is all done and we can continue into the month without confusion. To make up for it, I am presenting this bright carmine beauty which is, or I should say ‘was’ growing in my wilded patch of garden. It was a surprise to see such a rich coloured red flower and even more so to find that it comes from Texas. The biggest surprise of all, however, is that Texas Sage (one of the Salvias) is not listed anywhere among the packets of seeds I sowed. How did it get there? It will remain a mystery, for now at least, but we can still enjoy its delicate individual blooms that resemble some exotic bird of paradise taking flight, in today’s post. I hope your day contains some delightful anomalies such as this, my friends. View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #448

  1. I’m wondering if Scarlet Sage is listed pn your packet of wild flowers, Ellie? I ask because it is unlikely that this flower is Texas Sage, and more likely that is the Scarlet one. Whichever it is, there is no denying that it has produced a lovely ‘bird of paradise’, and fired up my imagination in the process. Thank you so much, Ellie, for rhe inspiration.

    1. Thanks so much for the suggestion, Janet. But no, no sage of any description in that packet. There was some regular sage in another packet, but I didn’t sow any of that there… And it was just regular sage. Intriguing, I love the mystery! I’m glad you had your imagination stimulated. And thanks again!

  2. Thanks so much Ellie it is a beautiful rich deep red color. Love it. Looks like he sticking his tongue out at us. Hope you Enjoyed that tiny bit of sun we had this morning. Maybe will get a little more this afternoon hopefully. Hope you have a great day hugs to you and Steve

    1. That not of sun was such a brief one, but do welcome! I’m glad you like my red birds, Linda! (To me they resemble little birds.) Thanks for the comment and hugs which are always appreciated.
