October Daphne

October Daphne, Sedum

October Daphne, Sedum

I hope you don’t think I randomly draw the flower names out of a hat, when I post my photos, though you might be forgiven, if you do. This photograph was, in fact, taken in September, not October and is being posted in December, so the name seems totally out of sync with the time. However, searching my plant app, this was what was offered to me, so I took it. Leaving the month out, the name seems entirely appropriate, as it reminds me of those tiny crustaceans called daphnia, or water fleas we fed to our tropical fish. They had the same diaphanous bodies. Take a close look if you can at the pretty details in this soft pink. Have a lovely day, my friends. View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #446

Deep Pink Cosmos

Deep Pink Cosmos

Deep Pink Cosmos

From the light we had yesterday in those bright yellow chrysanthemums, today we are enjoying a rich deep pink in our flower. My friend (the one with the border collie who is Joni’s best friend) is expecting her first baby any day now. This lovely Cosmos bloom was growing in her garden, just in between all the pale pink ones (which I shared the other day). This one comes with a hope that everything goes well for your day and a big hug for all of you. View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #445

Florists Chrysanthemum

Florist's Chrysanthemum

Florist’s Chrysanthemum

This beautiful burst of sunshine was nowhere near a florist’s when I photographed it, but growing out in the open at the top of our North ‘Mountain’ in the garden I have mentioned in the past. There is no need to elaborate on such brilliance or take your time up with reading when you can just sit and soak up the rays coming from these flowers. I hope they cheer your November day. Tradescantia

Tradescantia

Tradescantia

Who has not had one of these plants in our homes at one time or another? They seemed to be all vigour and leaf and hung over the sides of macrame hanging baskets, falling below the brown jute tassels. Why do I not remember noticing the glorious shades of purple that were there and only recall the white and greens and browns? Why did I never notice the beauty of this simple flower? Maybe the bustle of baby and feeding and nappies and so much to do then, meant that this wonder is reserved for these calmer, more reflective days. To take us all back to the 70’s, some in our memories, some in their imaginations, here is a beautiful, gentle, floral reminder of those days. I guess these are now back in fashion. I know I have that macrame pot holder around here somewhere… Have a fun day, if you can, friends! View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #443
