Now this is a real blast from the past, as I wanted something rich to follow yesterday’s gold (brass) button. Is there anything more royal and rich in colour than this beautiful fuchsia? The photo was one of the first I took for the project, all the way back in July 2020, when this was all still fairly new for us all. Happily this was waiting in the wings to feature today, months on, when we all still need happy flower posts. What particularly appealed, in addition to the beautiful colours, were the dainty stamens that look like a little girl’s slippers as she is lifted up to dance, by a loving parent, feet dangling as they sway together around the dance floor. I think I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that I made a mistake and that this isn’t gold at all! Well technically you’re right and it’s called Brass Buttons. But I don’t care about technicalities today and I have achieved what the alchemists didn’t, which is to turn base metals into gold! Protection

Protection

When I looked at this sweet rose, my first thought was that the petals were gently folded over the centre in a gesture of protection. We all know that of course they will have opened and become a lovely flower in full bloom, but meanwhile the feeling of this being a caring gesture lingered each time I looked at the photograph. I couldn’t think of any better title and besides, we all need the feeling of being cared for and protected at times, no matter how old or young we are. I thought we could look at this and feel that someone caring and kind is protecting us in just this way. Isn’t that a warm thought for today? I send warm, caring hugs to each of you, my friends. Bluebird Hydrangea

Bluebird Hydrangea

I had a near mutiny the other day when I suggested that I would not be sharing hydrangea photographs for fear of boring my readers! I am hoping this pretty offering will pacify those who let me know they are definitely NOT bored by hydrangeas. There will be more, as I love them myself. This particular one is a blue beauty that is on an industrial park, near Steven’s favourite woodworking tool store. I’m sure they are all withered and gone now, but we have this lovely picture to remind us of the height of their season. Each season has its beauty, as a regular reader pointed out, so I must try to remember that when I look out over a white landscape, devoid of all flowers. Enjoy the day, everyone.
