Pink Cosmos

Pink Cosmos

Pink Cosmos

Moving along from my irritating neighbours the raccoons (see yesterday’s post) I am going straight to another good neighbour on our walk. Tim (of the lovely Malva flower of a few days ago) is not the only person we speak to on our walk. The house of another friend who also lives with a border collie is not far from Tim, so our Joni always wants to stop in and say hello to her Arya. Joni is funny, as if we see Arya out on her walk anywhere, Joni knows her as one dog ‘Arya’ but then if we see her at her house, she seems to think that is another Arya. We know this because at times we have walked together with Joni and Arya to her house, and Joni looks towards the property all excited, thinking that she will see that ‘other Arya’ there. Who can truly know the mind of a dog? All this to say that at Arya’s house grow these gorgeous pink Cosmos flowers that are today’s offering to cheer us all. I hope this does it for you! Hugs to all. Blue Thimble Flower

Blue Thimble Flower

Blue Thimble Flower

This pretty blue posy grows in my rewilded patch of garden (remember that the racoons helped me till this?). It is not only called a blue thimble flower but is sold as Globe Gilia and came in the packet described as ‘Bee Feed Mix Wildflowers’. That had such an excellent mix of colourful flowers that bloomed for so long that it was definitely the most successful of my sowings and worth buying for next year. In my optimism I have already added it to my cart, along with some cosmos and (of course) lots of zinnias! Enjoy the fruits of our labours in the sharing today and I will pass on your thoughts to the raccoons when I next see them. They are unfortunately a little too enthusiastic and have begun preparing the rest of our lawn, which is rather more than I am happy converting to flower beds, so I need to say something pleasant to them instead of the thoughts I have had towards them recently… View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #432

Field Sowthistle

Field Sowthistle

With the sun dodging in and out these past few days, I felt that I needed a bright splash of sunshine for myself and for you and so I decided on this humble, common flower. We see these everywhere and often they are confused with and referred to as dandelions. They are edible, like dandelions, though I understand the greens are less bitter. I hope this little golden bloom with its rays will warm your heart and day for you. View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #431

Pink Potentilla

Pink Potentilla

As I have shared a pink flower the day before yesterday, I might as well share another today for another Pink Flower Day treat. These were blooming outside my dentist’s office a few months ago (obviously not in flower at the moment) in August. How I hate to hear that phrase “a few months ago in August”! But hopefully it won’t seem long until we are thinking of August being closer to arriving than it is today. Let us not rush things, friends, as we have lovely moments ahead of us until next summer, I’m sure. Hugs to all, I hope the day is kind to you. View all posts on the Home page.  A Flower a Day #430
