European Bird Cherry

Now that the cold and storms and even snow has hit our region of the Northern Hemisphere, it is time for a quick visit back to the optimism of Spring. And there is nothing much better to bring us back to that feeling than a little branch of tiny bird cherry blossoms. I don’t remember the exact time or place that I took this, but it was in May when Spring’s bright promise was strong in our hearts. Because a Rose

Because a Rose

Because a rose is just what we need sometimes to make our day! I do hope that today’s lovely grouping helps to do that for you, especially as there is more than one rose here, so that must be even better, don’t you think? I hope you don’t all get dentist envy when you read this, but once again these flowers were outside of my dentist’s building. As you enter and you see these, if you’re feeling nervous, your spirits are immediately lifted. As you leave (and by then hopefully you know that it wasn’t as bad as you feared) they make you smile with relief. So whether or not you have something you are anxious about today or not, let’s hope these roses have a positive and uplifting effect on your day. Mint Flower 21

Mint Flower

At the very start of this project in 2020, one of my first posts was a share of a mint flower from our garden. It is not too soon to feature this lovely cluster in another. I have always found mint plants terribly invasive, with the leaves looking so bedraggled and untidy at the end of the season, but the benefits of mint far outweigh this slight annoyance. The tea is delicious with all kinds of medicinal uses, no doubt. And today there is this lovely flower spray to highlight yet another plus to this plant. Gladiolus

Gladiolus

Several days of rain and wind and then lots of snow and I am ready for a bright splash of summer colour. This gladiolus is a detail, where I am used to seeing the whole stem. I wanted to focus on the intricate structure and texture of the petals in contrast to the smooth stems and buds behind. The colour is a bonus, with this warm sunny yellow to brighten our days today.
