European Bird Cherry
Now that the cold and storms and even snow has hit our region of the Northern Hemisphere, it is time for a quick visit back to the optimism of Spring. And there is nothing much better to bring us back to that feeling than a little branch of tiny bird cherry blossoms. I don’t remember the exact time or place that I took this, but it was in May when Spring’s bright promise was strong in our hearts. Shut your eyes for a minute and if you can, take yourself back to that feeling. Now hold that for the day. I hope it works! View all posts on the Home page. A Flower a Day #442

November 21 Gallery :
A gallery of flowers shared on a daily basis to cheer myself and hopefully you, the viewer too, during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic period. Posts from November 2021
A quick check into this plant reveals a long and interesting history….in Europe (hence the name) and also Asia, with little reference to North America. So I’m thinking this must be a rare plant you’ve found. In Finland, it is one of the first to flower and is a harbinger of Spring there which tradition it carries on here it seems. And what a pretty one it is. On a day when the snow had been softly falling throughout the day, Spring is far from my mind. So, this is a welcome remindet that it will come again. Thank you, Ellie.
It might indeed be a rare plant I have found (don’t remember where it was when I photographed it), but it also might be that I have misdiagnosed it! 😉 In any case if it brings a small respite from the snow and cold, even if only a temporary one, I have achieved my goal for today. Many thanks, Janet.
Love it Ellie. The little tiny cup like petals that look like they have dancers going around in the center. We so look forward to that time when we will see those beautiful little blossoms again. I will try hard to visualize that and go back to how I feel when they first blossomed. Thanks again for sharing hope you have a great day. Hugs to you and Steve.
Lovely description, Linda! Thank you. And it has worked for me today. Then we got a tiny bit of sun that shone and it seems not too far until the season returns. Hugs back.
