Evening Light, Winter Woodland

As we were going on a walk through the woods a couple of weeks ago, the sun was going down and casting a low, slanting light that seemed to undulate through the drifts of snow. Each time I have passed this group of trees the same effect has caught my eye. I can't imagine how it looks now, after our heavy snowfall and high winds, but probably almost the same, just a lot deeper. It's a very peaceful place and even quieter in the snow.

They were like waves, +David R Robinson – thanks.

It had hardly started at that point, it is at least two or three feet deeper than that now, +Heiko Mahr especially as we had a big fall of over 50 cm in one go and then since then we have had a couple, probably 10 or 15 cm more. Thanks so much Heiko.

    Merci beaucoup +P. Paradis Paul!

I saw that you had been through them, thanks, Lynn. I am going through again and noting them down. It often is the case that an image is appreciated best at a good size view. +Lynn David Newton

The problem with the snow, +Tom McGowan is the terrible waste of time involved in clearing it up. All other pursuits seem to be put on a back burner while that is done. Otherwise you can't get out and there is always the fear of the next fall being 'the big one'. The big one came and went and is still being a nuisance. We will have it for a long time, though it will settle. Thanks Tom. Keep warm.

Thank you +RJ Wilner for your kind comment.

Thank you very much +Ralph Mendoza

  3. +Ellie Kennard As per our conversation of about a week ago I'm going through your landscapes and adding a few positive comments. I liked this one better than the first time I saw it when I viewed it full screen. The texture of the snow and of course the contrast is lovely.
