The exquisite, cascading bouquet of tiny flowers that you see here is growing under a hedge beside the footpath in our village. I had never seen these before, so they made me catch my breath as the evening light fell just on to the top of this spray, with its open flowers. All of the others were in the shadow and almost obscured from view. Life is full of wonderful surprises if you keep your eyes open, expecting them to appear when least expected, if you don’t mind this apparent contradiction.
