Yucca Flower Bells

Yucca Flower Bells

Yucca Flower Bells

Well we have now had trumpets (in the Hosta flowers) and celebration roses and today we are ringing bells. I told you that we celebrate every day, so today we are doing so by ringing these beautiful flowers. You are probably wondering when I will settle down and get back to just gently sharing flowers and simple thoughts. That day will come soon enough, my friends! In the meantime, just enjoy the feeling of celebration while we admire the simple beauty of these Yucca bells. This plant was, as you might recall, badly beaten down by rain. Someone helped prop them up after their trauma and here they are, looking as good as new and cheery as you like. If we can try to help each other to stand up again when we see that some have been defeated by events, then our friends will also stand and smile and feel almost as good as new. I hope this might help you to do the same if you are feeling as though you have been through a virtual rainstorm. Ring those bells friends! Flower a Day #502 View all posts on the Home page.

Celebration Double Rose

Celebration Double Rose

Celebration Double Rose

You might wonder why this is called ‘Celebration’ double rose. Well, of course, it is a double rose! But in trying to decide a flower for my 500th post, I had settled on this and so named the image. Then, days later, I found the one you all saw yesterday and chose that instead. Also, as a little side note, Steven and I tend to celebrate things for days and weeks after the fact. For example, our 40th wedding anniversary was on the 11th of December, but we still are celebrating it as though every day was an anniversary – which of course it is! Every day we are given should be a celebration anyway, as I’m sure you agree. This day is a celebration of the life we have! Enjoy it, my friends. Flower a Day #501 View all posts on the Home page.

#500 Evening Primrose

#500 Evening Primrose

We have reached a milestone, my friends! You are reading post number 500 in this project. In that whole time I have never missed a single day. Of course I never expected that after such a long time there would still be a need to make an effort to keep myself and others cheerful, but I am realising that it’s not just related to the current pandemic and that there is always a need. I don’t know how long I will continue posting, but while I still have photographs of flowers and there are still people who enjoy seeing them, I will do so. As for today’s photo, I know many were expecting something spectacular, like fireworks exploding. Honestly, I didn’t know what flower would be fantastic enough to post to celebrate this post, but on reflection I realised that even the simplest of flowers is more amazing than this achievement of mine. With this in mind, I decided on this perfectly simple wildflower, the Evening Primrose. It grows around here in abundance, not fields of them, but in patches, and it’s always a pleasure to come across one. They may not be flamboyant as many flowers are, but they are beautiful in their simplicity and they keep going in the least hospitable environments. And the yellow is so bright and refreshing. We could do worse than imitate them – not worry about being flamboyant, but being content with the simple beauty that we all have, and being as bright and refreshing as we can, despite whatever situations we are facing. Hugs to all who read this. Flower a Day #500 View all posts on the Home page.

Hosta Caps

Hosta Caps

Hosta Caps

Caps? Or maybe trumpets? In any case, tomorrow is a big day for this project, so maybe trumpets would be more appropriate. Once again, these perfect flowers from our hostas caught my eye to share for you all. These are always even more beautiful when they have a hummingbird hovering in front of them, but that, my friends, I will leave for you to imagine. Everyone grows hostas for their wonderful leafy display that is perfect for borders, so the flowers are an afterthought for many. For me (and the insects) the leaves are… lovely and lush… but the real highlights are the simply elegant flowers and their visitors. These were, I think, about the second flowers I featured on this project, or at least among the very first. You can never have too much of a good thing, so I hope your day is filled with many good things, my friends! Flower a Day #499 View all posts on the Home page.
