This image, of a nest of tiny spiders (also visible on my Tiny Wildlife gallery https://elliekennard.ca/ekgallery/tiny-wildlife/) is a close-up of a nest I discovered when hanging out my laundry. At first I thought they were small bits of pollen that had got caught in the web which was blowing in the wind.
Then as I looked closer I saw that the ‘pollen’ was moving up and down on the strands of the web and I realized that they were baby spiders! A day later they were gone, either they were blown away on the wind or they had packed their bags and climbed down the pole ready for new spider lives.
I am planning content of a different kind, so watch for upcoming posts about this!
You are right:-)) +Ellie Kennard
Thanks as always +Nataly Rubeo! They do look cute, even though they are spiders. But all babies look cute. (Almost all babies!)

+Heidi Anne Morris – it was really interesting to read about them. Your image is great!
Thank you +Shawn Reynard – poor mum is long gone, as was pointed out. How they overwintered I can't imagine!
+Nicol Eh thanks for redirecting the post for me.
Thank you for sharing your photo with #HQSPAnimals

+HQSP Macro team (+Stefanie Schächtel +Igor Schevchenko +Peter Marbaise +Evi Verstraeten +Robert Kubacki and +Andi Fritzsch) please have a look.
Hmmmmmmm. Corn with legs. I bet Stephen Thackery would like these!
Not sure if he’s seen it, but I think you are right, knowing his love of all things buggy. They were as small as bits of pollen, Sandra. Now they’re going to be turning into big garden spiders, I guess.
They make me itchy… 8-D
Those pesky kids! – Great image & idea! +Ellie Kennard
Fabulous Ellie 💙 when I found them here I looked them up on the web (lol) and found some interesting articles. Will see if I can find my g+ post and share with you. 💙 https://plus.google.com/+HeidiAnneMorrisPhotography/posts/N9PdZL6Tc2w

+Sonali Dalal thank you!
Thanks a lot, +Marie, LMB!
They look a little like cartoon figures, don't they, +Susan Gabriel? Thanks for the comment.
Awwwww, too cute!
Great capture. Love the close up. You can see so much detail in the little ones.
Thanks Linda! They are apparently Garden Spiders (Argiope aurantia). I was only so glad I could take those photographs as they went so soon afterwards!
lol Awesome capture and find. =0)
Wonderful
Oh, thanks a lot +Alex Lapidus – I thought they were a special find. 😀
Wow, cool!
Definitely less noisy. Hahaha
Thanks +Eve Aebi – I thought so, probably cuter as babies…
They're really cute!
Thanks a lot dear +Andi Fritzsch . And the same to you!
+David Mathre I'm sure it would be! No, as +Captain Jack says, there was no mother to be seen at all. I didn't realize that she would be long gone. I hope you manage to get some to 'take' in your garden, Captain Jack!
+David Mathre Sadly no. She abandon them a very long time ago. They only live about a year.
OMG! Baby European Garden Spiders! I found a few on my patio. Last year I transplanted a handful from a farmers market that was going to kill them all. So I scooped up as many as I could before the scurried away. But when I put them in my garden they left. I guess they didn't like my garden. Now I'm hoping to find a female Black and Yellow garden spider. No luck yet.
It can be fun watching the egg sack release all of the little ones. Was there a protective mother nearby?
Very nice shot dear Ellie
Have a nice weekend
And I thought that men were supposed to be the brave ones! LOL! How wonderful to have seen that. Our weather has been so windy and cold and wet that I'm surprised that any babies at all survived. But they are pretty hardy, it seems. +Christina Lihani
I thought so, but not so much Brian, +Ellie Kennard! Plus, as I wandered in the yard the other day, I found where a couple babies had set up home! Their fine, tiny webs were no larger than an inch or so across. And so perfect!
+Lynn David Newton – I know just what you mean! Since I saw them (and while preparing the images) I found myself itching…
Thanks for the heads up +Christina Lihani – I think I fixed the enlargement problem. Aren't they wonderful?
Interesting. They look like crawling Yield signs. Looking at this makes me want to scratch myself.
This is so awesome! I know you aren't on fb but I posted a similar photo the other day!
I followed your link and though I can enlarge the two photos via hoverzoom, I was unable to enlarge them by clicking on them. I can click on the others and use the arrow to go through the album — which I enjoyed!
