Sharp and Clear and Soft and Fuzzy – 31/365

Some things in life are sharp and clear. Some things are soft and fuzzy. When I was a child and had a fever, the fever dream I had was of having a soft, velvety pillow to lie my head on, which, as soon as I relaxed onto it became hard and spiky. I still remember that dream and can feel the horrible shock of it.

Soft and gentle can be good and can help relax and heal. But sometimes soft and fuzzy can obscure the sharp and clear. As long as we can see them for what they are, there is room for both in our worlds.

The first month of of 2014 is over in my 365 project. 11 more months to go. When I started this project I had no idea that I would have a young and bouncy puppy to cheer me, to play with and to take on my walks. So the year is off to an excellent start.

This is not a macro, but I know how much my friend +Robin Griggs Wood loves feathers. I also want to thank her for her kind and generous spirit. So, although not a macro, I am mentioning  #MacroFeatherFriday by +Robin Griggs Wood +E.E. Giorgi

  1. Just catching up to all of my wonderful comments on my postings! Sorry to be a little behind! 😉

That was a really lovely thing to say +Ursula Klepper – thank you very much my friend.

+Heiko Mahr – they would indeed look like wings! Thanks a lot, my friend.

That is very encouraging +Robin Griggs Wood and I will remember that for future practice sessions. Thanks a lot, Robin.

Thank you very much my friend +Sumit Sen

  2. Macro photography used to mean anything that was shot 1:1 on the negative, now it just means "close up photography" in common usage. Which is how I meant it when I set up the theme. It was for people to be able to practice their close-up work in a relatively controlled environment with, hopefully, something they found to be beautiful. This is certainly beautiful, Ellie … I love your composition!

  3. What a excellent still life +Ellie Kennard and well played with opposites
I know that kind of shells from the north sea..
If some takes two of them side by side together they look like a pair of angle wings.. 😉
So maybe you have a wing and a feather of an angel here..

  4. You can be proud of you! :o)  I enjoyed this first month every day to see your pictures and read your storys. Now I got used to and don't want to miss them! Now to this one, as usual a thoughtfull writing together with this also thougtfull image. You know I love shells, there is a story behind each of them! And you put them nicely together with your own story.

  5. Merci mon ami +Paul Paradis – bonne soirée a vous!
+Alan Mason -thank you so much! I did a couple of 52 projects last year but they didn't work as well for me as the 366 I did in 2012. So I thought I would revisit the daily theme. But with my own rules. If I can't take a photo (for any reasons, including stress) then I dig into my archive to find something that has never been published, work on it and feature that instead. Stress has to be low or I won't do it. 😀

  6. I love the juxtaposition between the hard calcium of the shell and the soft feathery touch. Keep up the good work with you 365 project. I finished my 365 on 31 December 2013 and have now gone to the 'set subject', one a week for 52 weeks (less stressful).
