Rhododendron Early Flower
I think in a past post I mentioned finding an almost hidden small pink rhododendron plant while I was mowing the grass under some trees. It probably seems odd that I hadn’t seen it before, but the bed had become rather overgrown and it was eclipsed by a larger, brasher plant, which pushed itself forward to my notice. This white and pink rhododendron flower is the product of that larger, spreading plant that threatened the existence of that more timid one. This collection of blossoms have only one that is opening, but the deceptively leathery texture of the rest of the unopened buds in this photograph really appealed to me. They look so strong, but the opened flower shows just how fragile are those beautiful petals, once unfurled. Enjoy yet another Pink Flower Day with this early bloom, my friends. February 2022 Gallery :
A gallery of flowers shared on a daily basis to cheer myself and hopefully you, the viewer too, during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic period. Posts from February 2022.

Rhododendra could easily be called ‘Show’dodendra, because these beauties know how to put one on…and they do it with class. So dress up, find your seat, sit back and enjoy the view. It’s always a good one. Thanks, Ellie, for the preview.
I’m so glad you enjoyed this preview, Janet. The full show is on in a couple of days, you haven’t long to wait. Thanks for the descriptive comment, again.
Thank you so very much Ellie. It is lovely. Again taking a closer look at that flower I realize something I never thought about before. The one is open whereas the rest look like little blossoms that are also ready to open but they’re on the same flower. I will be sure to notice the one we have here much closer this summer. Enjoy the beautiful sunshine we’re getting here today. Hugs to you and Steve
It’s true that I hadn’t really taken note of that before either, Linda. Thank you for the observation and the lovely comment, too. Hugs back to you both.
