Rhododendron Early Flower
I think in a past post I mentioned finding an almost hidden small pink rhododendron plant while I was mowing the grass under some trees. It probably seems odd that I hadn’t seen it before, but the bed had become rather overgrown and it was eclipsed by a larger, brasher plant, which pushed itself forward to my notice. This white and pink rhododendron flower is the product of that larger, spreading plant that threatened the existence of that more timid one. This collection of blossoms have only one that is opening, but the deceptively leathery texture of the rest of the unopened buds in this photograph really appealed to me. They look so strong, but the opened flower shows just how fragile are those beautiful petals, once unfurled. Enjoy yet another Pink Flower Day with this early bloom, my friends.
