Orange Lily

Orange Lily

Orange Lily

This photograph has not done this gorgeous lily justice! There is something so elegant, so ornamental about this flower, it’s hard to believe that it was growing outdoors in a garden in Nova Scotia, not in some exotic location, not even in a heated greenhouse. Some beauty seems fragile but has an indomitable strength that enables the owner to flourish and thrive. So this lily is currently dormant in that garden, but will grow again to astonish me the next time I see it. I will try to do better photographing it next time I see it. This is another photograph taken near the start of my project, in July of 2020, just waiting for the right time to delight me again. I hope it brightens your day too, my friends. 1. I think you did a great job capturing that flower. Love the way you took it straight down so you can see all the petals and the design in the center. The little dots and all the petals just look like a highway saying to the different insects this is the way to get what you’re looking for. Thanks again for sharing, it was beautiful.

    1. Thanks so much, Linda. You are right, it does look exactly like a little highway leading to the goodies at the centre. I love the way you described it. Thanks again.

  2. Reminds me of a starfish but more delicate…maybe crossed with a sea anemone to give it that balletic effect. However one sees it, it is certainly lovely and peaceful. Thank you, Ellie, for another gentle sight.

    1. As always, Janet, thank you for your creative thoughts on this flower image. I always appreciate your comments. They are among the reasons I keep posting.
