Crumpled Poppy

Crumpled Poppy

Crumpled Poppy

This beautiful little wild poppy was in one of my less successful wilded flower gardens this past summer. There was something about it that really appealed to me, as it looked as if it had slept in its fragile red silk dress, crumpling it beyond any smoothing. Poppies often look unpressed when they first emerge, but it seems that the deceptive force of their growth makes the petals strong and smooth very quickly. This one somehow just didn’t manage the strength to do that, or perhaps it’s a crumpled variety, meant to remain forever wrinkled. Even so, the centre glows with life and light. Whether you feel wrinkled and fragile or strong and smooth today, enjoy the day as much as you can. I send a warm hug to you all, crumpled or strong. 1. A wild child, a free spirit, no need to conform to convention… comb my hair? iron my dress? Not me! Throw caution to the wind and come tiptoe through the tulips with me. Love me for who I am. Thank you, Ellie, for these bright eyes and wild curls.

  2. Thank you so very much Ellie. It is a lovely flower beautiful deep colors. And like you say the center just looks like it is exuding light. Zoom in it almost looks like a star that’s ready to burst open. I actually love the crumpled effect of those petals. If you have more come up in your garden next year I wouldn’t mind getting some seeds. Thanks again for sharing hope you have a great day. Hugs to you and Steve

    1. We’ll look out for that one next year, as you’re note than welcome to some seeds of it reappears. I hope so. Thanks for the comment, Linda.
