Wrinkleleaf Goldenrod

Wrinkleleaf Goldenrod

Happy Sunday! Goldenrod has apparently many guises, this being only one. They all share this lovely rich deep yellow colour with relatively small flowers, often bunched together in various ways on stems of varying lengths. (I hope you will excuse my highly scientific description.) The unopened buds on this one are a little reminiscent of tiny mimosa flowers in shape. I don’t remember even seeing this variety before, which is probably simply that I have not taken the time to study them next to their other relatives. Next year I will try to make more of an effort, when they come back to our roadsides. As I write this it is very grey and dull out my window, so I needed a bright pick-me-up and this fits the bill for me. I hope you have a good day, all of you. 1. Thank you for this sprig of sunshine with unsprung rays. It is much needed here too, as it cold, dreary and wet. You can release as much of that bottled up sunshine and you like. There’ll be no complaints here. Thank you, Ellie, for a spot of brightness.

    1. I’ll glad that those bright spots lifted the gloom a bit, as we might need to revisit this over the next few days ourselves. There won’t be much in the way of sunshine coming through the clouds and rain, we are being warned. Thanks Janet.

  2. It is lovely Ellie. Love the way you’ve captured the different stages of the blossoms opening. And it is a lovely deep rich yellow. It is a very bright spot on an otherwise cloudy day. Thanks again for sharing hugs to you and Steve.
