Striped Violet

African violet

Today’s Flower a Day is another African Violet from the collection that threatens to spill over our window ledges onto the floors. The flowers here are gorgeous, but the buds really are what caught my eye with their delicate hairs and striped colours, almost glowing there, waiting to unfurl. The website has been giving me a few problems lately, notably the gallery plugin not working as expected and the emails not being delivered to my subscribers (though that was fixed yesterday afternoon finally). In this situation sometimes the best de-stress routine that I can practice is simply to look at my flower photographs and remember why I started this project. Not to cause myself more stress but to alleviate some of the current ones created for us all with the world situation. So I am just going to go for a walk and come back and look at the flowers and remember that objective. I hope you can do the same, either with my flowers or something of your own that works for you. Until tomorrow, my friends.

  1. Ooooo, yum – good enough to eat, like a dish full of gumdrops, so inviting, irresistible really, are these sweet violets. A full blown party with more coming in the door to join the festivities. Don’t they just make you want to get up and dance or just to be in their company maybe, because this is not a rowdy, raucous upstart but a meeting of like minds and sophisticated tastes, everyone knowing how to dress and how to behave- with respect. So, perhaps, this gathering is more high tea than beer bash and more symposium than gab fest. That being the case, I think I’ll have a scone with my cuppa. Thank you, Ellie, for the good company.

    1. Janet, you have a gift! I was right there at that gathering of beautiful, elegant creatures, enjoying the conversation and the tea. And yes, they do make me want to dance, as well. There is nothing wrong with that when the dresses are so beautiful and full skirted. Thanks for that vision.

    1. I somehow thought that seeing this today might cheer your day along a little bit. I know how much you love our African violets and it’s been too long! Have a lovely day. Thanks Linda.
