Regular Daylily
“A regular daylily?” you ask. “What kind of name is that?” I thought of it when I was processing it ready for posting. Bear with me, please, and I’ll explain. Many years ago we went with friends for a drive down to the tip of the province of Nova Scotia, where whale watching is the local passtime and a thriving business, pre pandemic at least. As we drove around the coast, I spotted some interesting looking ducks and asked my Nova Scotia born friends what they were. The wife took one look and said “I think they’re just regular ducks”. I always remember that. One person’s regular duck is another person’s novelty, in this case, the Eider duck. Today I present to you a common sight around here in the summer, a ‘regular’ orange daylily that grows like a weed. Perhaps for you it’s a novelty and a delight to the eyes as it still is for me, after all these years. I hope so. Sending warm hugs to all. The Flower a Day #488 View all posts on the Home page.

January 2022 Gallery :
A gallery of flowers shared on a daily basis to cheer myself and hopefully you, the viewer too, during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic period. Posts from January 2022.
Yay! Here is a flower that I have in my garden. That means I join the association of regular daylily owners of which there are legion. On my walks in the heat of summer, these happy hot orange banners wave at me from gardens, vacant lots and roadsides all around the region acknowledging my membership in their club. Thank you, Ellie, for waving this emblem of friendship today.
Always happy to regularly wave the banner (orange or any other colour) of friendship in your direction, Janet. Thank you!
Thank you very much Ellie. It is a lovely lily. I enjoy the different varieties of colours in the daylilies even though they only last a day, there are always so many buds on the plant that you have a new flower every day. Hope you have a great day today. Hugs to you and Steve.
I agree with you, Linda, I love even the most common ones and they are so prolific. Thanks for the comment.
