Pink Moss Phlox

Pink Moss Phlox

I am always intrigued when I see a patch of seemingly random flowers planted along the side of the road. What has inspired the property owner to plant these, out of view of the house, mostly visible to the road and then, only really to those walking past? A car driver, speeding by would be unlikely to notice as they are so tiny. There were a few irregularly spaced patches of these lovely phlox, in different colours, facing the road beside a ditch. I had to scramble up the side of the bank and pretty much lie along the side of the slope to get a decent photograph of them. It’s actually a lovely, selfless and thoughtful gesture of the gardener who placed these groupings to brighten the roadside and cheer what might be a tired passerby. I hope that today’s pink flowers (for Pink Flower Day) do the same to all of you who view it. May they give you a little lift, alleviate any tiredness as you pass by on your way through your day, my friends. A flower a Day #250

  1. When I did my front yard a couple of years ago, phlox was one of the plants that covered a corner of the garden. It’s been two years without any flowers…until this week when a small flower on each of the three plants appeared. They look just like the bunch that you have posted today, Ellie, except much sparser. I look forward to the time when my phlox are producing pink flowers at the same rate as these. Thank you, Ellie, for the PFD and a glimpse of the future.

    1. I wonder what happened to stop them flowering, Janet? I really hope that you get an abundance of them later or maybe next year. I’m glad I was able to share these, perhaps they will inspire yours to bloom!

  2. Yes Ellie I agree they are a great surprise when you come upon them. We were walking the other night and I had forgotten I had planted some down in the front lawn over next to our neighbor’s side. They were all in full bloom and just brightened our evening walk. Thanks again for sharing hope you have a good day. Sending hugs to you and Steve
