Pink Cosmos
Today I couldn’t resist these beautiful pink Cosmos flowers again. Just looking at them reminds me of that day I took the photograph at the end of October. It seems so long ago now I didn’t believe the date on this picture and so I went and double checked it to be sure. Yes, it was October 30, when I was walking and dropped by the garden of my friend who was expecting her first baby in a short time. The flowers were still blooming, I was able to walk in my ordinary shoes, it was warm enough that I was just wearing a light sweater, no heavy coat, hat, hand warmers and mitts. Today it’s so cold and with so much deep snow on the ground outside my window, that that day in October seems to be a lifetime away. The baby has been born and is beautiful (of course), the Cosmos bush is buried in white and once again a walk involves at least 10 minutes of putting on warm gear. But actually I find that exciting, as it means that this post will seem a lifetime away in a few short Flower a Day weeks! So let’s look forward to those happy days, my friends. February 2022 Gallery :
A gallery of flowers shared on a daily basis to cheer myself and hopefully you, the viewer too, during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic period. Posts from February 2022.
I did a double take when I opened your post today, Ellie. I thought she has done a repost of those same pink flowers from a few days past. But when I checked, they weren’t exactly the same, of course. Those twin wild pink rose blooms of last month exude the same quiet elegance as these cosmos twins. The hue of pink is nearly the same. The difference is in the details… with these petals having more creases and a less rounded edge; the yellow centres more closely clustered here surrounded by a deeper fuschia…and so on. And so it goes in life. What often appears to be same or similar is revealed on closer inspection to have traits and characteristics to make it its own unique being. Thank you, Ellie, for making take note.
Ah, I’m glad that you took the time to check out the differences, Janet. After 500 and more posts I suppose I will be bound to start posting some very similar ones, but I’m so glad you appreciated that beauty in each. In fact I did take my camera out today and risked…. to take some photos of flowers in my local Home Depot. I am starting to need some new ones, obviously! However, if this made you take a close look, and really enjoy the differences, then I am happy and, as they say, “vive la différence!”
Thanks so much Ellie. Love the delicate pink but then the darker colour around the center. Really shows the design of the flower in that the center needs to be the attractive part for everything to be pollinated and grow again. Thanks again for the very bright spot in our day today. Beautiful sunshine so worth getting dressed up to go out for a little walk. Hope you have a great day hugs to you and Steve
Thanks so much again, Linda, for taking the time to dig into my flowers and appreciate the detail. The sunshine was gorgeous today, especially as we had frozen fog on the trees first thing when we had to go out. Not so much dressing up today as the past few days, that’s for sure! Hugs back to you both.
