Pink Daisies

I have found out that most flowers that look like daisies are asters! So it is time to formally declare another World Wild Aster Day with these beautiful Michaelmas daisies. These are very like the ones in my planted ‘rewilding’ patch. This wonderful cluster of deep pink, tall blooms appeared on the bank at the side of our drive this fall. I have never seen them before and so they must have had some animal or bird assistance in arriving at this location. They are so lushly coloured and so profuse, in one single, wild display as you can see, that they really do deserve a special day in their honour. Thanks to my wildlife assistants we can admire them on this WWAD, appearing out of nowhere to brighten my path. This patch is a superb example demonstrating to us that without any human intervention, the most beautiful flowers can flourish in the natural world to surprise us all of a sudden. Will you believe me if I tell you that I walked and drove past these a few times before they came to my attention? I hope your day today might hold a lovely surprise like this in whatever form it takes. Keep your eyes open so you don’t miss it! 1. Although all daisies are asters, not all asters are daisies, I believe. And in this case, I think your pink daisies are actually pink asters. But does it matter to its admirer? Not really… as, either way, it is a lovely example for WWAD and PFD. Thank you, Ellie, being the pink today.

  2. Michaelmas Daisy was my school flower, many years ago! I remember it as less pink and a little more purple but these are a wonderful sight, worthyof any school flower.

    1. These are certainly very vibrant pink, not like I remember them in the UK, Joyce, you are right. But on the other hand, a rose by any name … etc, right? So if it brings cheer, we can call it what we like, on this project at least. 😉 Thanks so much for the comment! It’s lovely to hear from you.

  3. They are lovely Ellie. I noticed them the other day when I drove up. I love the colour of all the different flowers that you have displayed. It always amazes me of the variety of colour no to seem to be exactly the same. Thanks again for that lovely little surprise. Hope you have a great day with the beautiful sunshine we’re having today

    1. They look lovely in my patch on the slope above the parking, but are even more dense on the bank above the road. Shows how much better the wildlife is at planting than am I! They all bring us joy, in any case. Thank you for the lovely comment. Enjoy your day, Linda.
