Party Dahlia
This little city beauty was flowering alone in a bed on a sidestreet where we had parked to get some takeout food. The other plants around it had all finished blooming and this one stood out in the drab surroundings in its lovely soft red and white skirt with cream bodice, decorated with a golden centre. It reminded me of Maria in West Side Story or the Rose in Spanish Harlem (though neither Puerto Rican nor a rose, I know). It certainly has some wear and tear, as if after a late party but was standing so pretty and bright that I had to photograph it. I hope this flower lifts any drab parts of your day, my friends. October 21 Gallery :
A gallery of flowers shared on a daily basis to cheer myself and hopefully you, the viewer too, during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic period. Posts from October 2021

Two scenes come to mind upon viewing today’s post: first, that of a party in which this sweet flower is the last one standing, perhaps a bit mussed, but still eager to go, high on adrenaline and having a great time; the second is of an adorable puppy, having outplayed all its littermates and is now turning to its prospective adoptive owners, asking, “Am I not the one?”
Whichever it is, both thoughts made me smile. Thank you, Ellie.
Both work well for me, too, Janet. I love where my flowers take your imagination and am happy to go down those same paths when you share. Thanks again.
It is a beauty Ellie. Love the mixtures of the different colors in that flower. It certainly makes it very striking and stand out for sure. Hope you have a great day enjoy the sunshine. Hugs to you and Steve
I’m glad you like it, Linda. I wish we had it, you or us! Thanks a lot. Have a great weekend.
