Pale Potentilla

Potentilla, Cinquefoil

Potentilla, Cinquefoil

It’s time for more dentist envy, friends! This is another bush growing along the front of that building, helping to calm the visitors to the various clinics inside. I never tire of seeing these lovely flowers that seem to look like little wild roses, scattered through the rich foliage. I hope you enjoy the details in these tiny blossoms as much as I do and that they help to brighten your day. Flower a Day #459

Fall Colours 2021

Reaching for the Sky

Reaching for the Sky

Today’s Fall Colour 2021 bonus shows us the tops of the trees in the sunset again. I wish these displays lasted a little longer, but at least we get to see them, one bonus of the sudden cold nights we have here.

  1. Such an interesting plant, the potentilla. It comes in so many varieties, colours, sizes and uses that I imagine one could have a garden full of potentillas and it would never be boring, repetitious or monotonous. No wonder this sweet bloom is eager to stand out in the crowd. It’s a tall order if you are a potentilla. Thank you, Ellie, for this pale flower and the flash of autumnal scarlet.

    1. Thanks so much Janet, for admiring the achievement of this little flower, standing out above the crowd! The fall colours have been quite gorgeous this year, as usual. But, as always, we say that we think they are the best ever!

  2. I think most dentists would envy the kind of patients I have who are so artistic and creative!! You continue to bring calm to my mornings!

    1. My particular dentist 😉 is so supportive of the arts and artists that she inspires all to battle any discouragement and to keep on with their work, despite challenges. If this project of mine helps to bring calm to a day, then I am happy too. Thank you so much, Erin.

  3. Thanks Ellie. They are lovely. I agree they do look like the wild roses. Thanks again for sharing also the splash of fall colors. Hope you have a lovely day and enjoy the sunshine. Hugs to you and Steve.

    1. I have to confess, Linda, that I just checked, and potentilla is a member of the rose family! My ignorance is showing here… I’m glad you like it, whatever the name (the expression ‘a rose by any other name would smell as sweet’ is particularly appropriate here! Thanks again, hope you enjoy your day too. And hugs to you!!
