Knapweed
This is another of these horticultural mysteries, which we will call knapweed for the sake of calling it something. My plant identifiers have tried all kinds of names, but knapweed seems most likely. I don’t remember where I found it and obviously now it’s not around – until next year, that is. I really loved the detail in this little ‘flower’, so I hope you enjoy your Weed a Day photograph today. If you like solving mysteries and want to delve a little deeper for the true name of this, be my guest! Have an ‘awesome’ day, everyone! Flower a Day #458

December 21 Gallery :
A gallery of flowers shared on a daily basis to cheer myself and hopefully you, the viewer too, during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic period. Posts from December 2021
I think your app made the identification correctly,Ellie. A member of the daisy family (i can see that) it’s generally considered a weed, but like so many other so-called weeds, it has medicinal properties which are unappreciated in today’s world of Big Pharma. Thanks for appreciating it, Ellie, and for the smoketree leaf which looks surreal.
I am pleased that I wasn’t too far out of the ballpark with the ID, Janet. I appreciate them all, as do you, and thank you for your appreciation! I love how surreal the smoketree leaf looks. It was partly why I couldn’t help myself photographing several of them. Now I have to wait for next year as they are all withered and brown.
Good morning Ellie. Thanks for this little mystery today. It is a lovely color and when I first saw it I thought it was another thistle plant. But that’s the extent of my knowledge I really know nothing about the plant. But I certainly do enjoy viewing it. Also love the pattern in the leaves of the smoke bush. They are really amazing. Hope you have a great day hugs to you and Steve.
Thanks Linda. I do find it strange that thistle wasn’t even offered as a possibility, as I agree, it has a very ‘thistly’ appearance. That smoke bush was something else. No more photos of that now, until next year. And only three more autumn features. But we can enjoy them while we have them (the photos I mean). Have a lovely day, Linda!
