You can see that I am really not sure on the identification of this little gem. As I no longer remember where I took the photo, I can’t go back and check, so I am taking a stab at the name in the title of this post, while keeping the options open in the photograph description above. As I say so frequently, the accuracy of the name is not my main objective. I really just want to share a little of the beauty of some of the flowers around me. With that in mind, I hope you enjoy a glimpse into this lovely bloom with its purple veined petals and tiny towered centre and that it brightens your day in a small way. I think you have the name(s) right. Such a rich colour, and another of those culinary and medicinal talents. An asset to anybody’s garden. Thank you, Ellie, for adding it to your collection.
One of my respondents (in Germany) said he was sure it was a flax. Another said she and her neighbour have these in her garden and it’s definitely not flax as their petals are more rounded.

Thanks Ellie it is lovely. And I agree totally with your description beautiful color and the veins in the leaves are amazing and then that little center. It is a beauty indeed and a very bright spot in anybody’s day. Thanks again for sharing hopefully you can find it again next year.
