Campanula Punctata

Campanula Punctata, Spotted Bellflower

Campanula Punctata, Spotted Bellflower

These pretty flowers were growing in the front of the local high school. I originally shared a photograph of them very early on in this project, in this post Spotted Bellflower and described them as ‘gentle on the eyes’. I don’t even remember photographing them last year, so I should make another diary entry to look out for them again in September. Bells were what rang when I was in school and I admit they were pretty strident, but from what we hear from our house, it sounds as if students here have more of a siren sounding to alert them of classes changing etc. Can you imagine what stress these sounds must pile on to an already stressful day for school children? Long gone are the days when a teacher stood outside a small school in the playground, ringing a handbell and the children formed orderly lines before going into class. For those of us whose lives are no longer ordered by the sound of wailing sirens or ear splitting bells, I wish you all a gentle day, whatever you are doing. 1. Gentle on the eyes, gentle on the ears…the perfect little flower and the perfect little bell. Thanks, Ellie, for today’s tender image.

    1. I don’t think we personally ever had the little hand bell, though Steven did. Still, this is certainly a gentle sounding (and looking one). So thank you, Janet and you are most welcome.

  2. I can say I would have known what to expect from the common name of that flower. But didn’t even know how to pronounce the other name. It is a lovely little bell-shaped flower. And when you zoom in I like the little speckles of color on the pale white petals. Thanks again for sharing have a lovely day. Hugs to you and Steve

    1. Yes, tricky to say that, but it doesn’t take away from the loveliness of the flower, whatever we call it. I’m glad you liked it, thanks again, Linda. Hugs back to you both.
