The reason for butterfly bushes, or buddleia is, obviously, butterflies! And as I was trying to photograph this intoxicatingly perfumed spray of flowers, I kept being divebombed by hummingbirds and bees and finally a butterfly. Much as I love hummingbirds and bees, I was really glad to see this little fellow (lady?) land just where I was aiming my lens. I know that usually the photograph is all about a flower, but this time my focus shifted to get the detail in the insect. I hope you will forgive the fact that the tiny blooms are almost all out of focus. You see the brilliant colour, though I wish you could have smelled the perfume as I did. Hugs to all my friends. If you ever needed proof….you have it here. A beautiful butterfly…bush! Thank you, Ellie, for this great portrait of two natural partners.
Thanks Janet. More than I hoped for.
And amidst full circle in flowers in a way. The buddleia was one of the first photos on the project. Though it’s not quite a year yet.
Thanks Ellie it is beautiful. Love the little butterfly. I was amazed at that bush when I drove in the other day I thought wow that is really nice. I will have to take the time to smell it next time I’m down. Hope you have a great day love to you and Steve.
A sniff is definitely recommended. If that’s not enough, there’s another by the livingroom window! Thanks Linda.
