White and Pink Rhododendron

White and Pink Rhododendron

White and Pink Rhododendron

The early flowering rhododendron I shared a couple of days ago came into full bloom shortly after I took that photo and here is how it looks when the flowers on the clusters are all open. This is why I never saw the shy little pink one hiding in the undergrowth, as it is such a prolific bloomer and is so eye-catching that it’s hard to see anything else. At times it seems to me that our spring doesn’t really get going until June, but I see that this was taken on May 21st, so I shouldn’t be so pessimistic! It won’t be too long before we see the days really getting longer and perhaps the sun’s rays will be strong enough to melt at least some of the snow that has accumulated over the past few weeks. I hope this pretty thing helps to lift your spirits first thing in your day. Flower a Day #515 View all posts on the Home page.

  1. No plant does blooms like the rhododendra. I’ve always been in awe of them. They are so good at what they do- producing these splendiforous shows of light and airy blossoms. So lovely. You’ve captured its beauty perfectly in this photo, Ellie. Thank you.

  2. Thank you so much for giving us the finished view of the previous picture. It is lovely in full bloom as it is in single bloom. Still intriguing how only one of the petals has a design that leads to the center. It is a very bright spot certainly a cheery way to start any day. Hope your day is good hugs do you and Steve.

    1. You’re welcome, Linda. I’m glad you like it. And it is interesting how only one of the petals has the pattern, you are right! I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks again.
