Thyme-leaved Speedwell
It’s thyme (;-) for another patch of little blue beauties today, my friends. Just the name of this pretty little plant brings a smile as firstly the word thyme evokes a lovely herby scent to me, redolent of bees and summer and salads and pasta sauces. Secondly the name speedwell is such a cheery one for all travellers, expressing a wish for a successful and quick trip. Now of course voyages are not taken as freely or as speedily as they have been in our not so distant past, but nonetheless we can all remember when such a time brought joyful reunions of friends and family. Hold on to the thought and to the image of this happy patch of tiny blue flowers as you contemplate a time in the future when the meaning of the word will again come into its own. Happy Sunday everyone! Flower a Day #513 View all posts on the Home page.

February 2022 Gallery :
A gallery of flowers shared on a daily basis to cheer myself and hopefully you, the viewer too, during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic period. Posts from February 2022.

Looking a bit like a miniature pansy, this crowd-loving little groundcover is definitely not related to the thyme that conjures up such good images and aromas for us. However its versatility is a valued trait as it can grow in both wet lands and the not-so-wet. As this photo suggests its enthusiastic nature, it’s best to leave it in the wild as it can be very invasive if introduced to a controlled setting. Veronica, her other name, is sweet if left to grow where nature puts her. Thank you, Ellie, for day of spirited pastel blues.
I’m happy to leave Veronica (friend of Betty? – age-ist joke, I suspect) growing right where she is, so I can admire, photograph and leave her to proliferate where she wants. Thanks again, Janet.
Thanks again for sharing Ellie. It is a beautiful delicate Little flower. Reminds me of a violet. I like the way the petals are light on the bottom but then you get that deep color at the top and it is so vibrant. Hope you have a great day hugs to you and Steve.
These reminded me of violets, too, Linda. Thanks as always for your thoughts and lovely comment. Hugs back to you too.
