Clivia Flower
I saw this photograph of the clivia flowers in my folder from last year and memories of that photography session flooded back. It was taken on March 25th, in a local pottery studio. There was an evening class in session, with several potters busy at their stations. The atmosphere was calm, but at the same time I felt the creativity in the room as though it was tangible. The late sun was flooding in the picture window where these plants were all arranged and the golden light hit these flowers and lit the corner of the room where I sat to take the pictures. We are soon into March again and this photo has lifted my spirits by reminding me that the evening sun will be shining here well past 8pm in just a few short weeks. I am hoping that we are breaking the back of the worst of the very cold days, with a warm rainy day today, although it will be plunging well below freezing again tonight. We haven’t got long to wait, so hang in there everyone! Hugs to all. Flower a Day #532 View all posts on the Home page.

Perfect! Exactly as it was, add you know. I have you to thank for it, Chrissie. xo
A flower new to me is the clivia. A quick search revealed that it is part of the amaryllis genus, and a lily. Having had an amaryllis this winter, I can certainly see the family resemblance. The clivia is very lovely with its light-coloured centre erupting into a bold shade of salmon. Thank you, Ellie, for this introduction.
Yes, I hadn’t seen it until I photographed it last March. It is a lovely thing and I’m glad to have made the introduction! Thanks, Janet.
What a beautiful flower and what a lovely color. The way the sun is hitting the flower is amazing. Looks like bursts of light coming from the centers. Thanks again for sharing such a bright and cheery image to start our day. Looking forward to those longer sunny evenings. Hugs to you and Steve hope you have a great day.
Thank you, Linda, I agree, it is a lovely colour flower. It won’t be too long, hopefully, until we get those longer days.
