As soon as she entered the ballroom she knew she had chosen the wrong dress.
The rhododendron by the washing line is particularly lovely this year and I was admiring it late one afternoon when I suddenly noticed that there was someone at the party of frilly floral frocks who had not chosen the right dress for the occasion. What I particularly liked was how proud she appeared in spite of the ordinary yellow outfit. She was the one who stood out!

She knew she was in a very special place and realized she was special too!
She was and did! Lovely comment, thank you Diane.
I remember going to prom and being so proud of my new dress, only to see so many other girls in the same dress, only with different color sashes. The funniest part was going to Universal Studios in LA a few years ago and finding said dress for sale among costumes that they were selling to the public; again, with a different color sash. Great photo, Ellie, and story to go along with it. Have a great week!
What a great story your comment is, too, Sharon! How funny to see it for sale at Universal like that! Thanks so much, have a great week, yourself!
Lovely writing Ellie! I like wearing the wrong dress!
Thanks Joanne! And I bet it looks just as striking! Have a lovely day!
so glad you are still in the garden Ellie … hey it is fun being the one who stands out in the crowd 🙂 Winter coming here Down Under but only a light jumper required so far , BIG HUG
Isn’t it, Len? Thanks, yes, still in the garden, our spring is well along now.
Lovely photo Ellie. And great description.
Thanks so much, Linda!
Oh, I say she chose the “right” dress!
That would be me! lol
Lovely blossoms and story, Ellie!

You are absolutely right, Cynthia! And there would be two of us, you and me. I actually had to wear a yellow lace dress of my stepmother’s to my prom. Yellow is absolutely the worst colour on me, but it was what I had, I only hope I stood as proud as that dandelion in the crowd of frilly, expensive gowns! Thanks for the comment, my friend!
