For today’s Flower a Day posting I am sharing a solitary happy little face. A tri-colour viola, also known as a Johnny Jump-up, this tiny single flower was growing all alone in some stones in a friend’s garden in September and would have been easy to miss. I have always loved the faces on these tiny flowers and I hope this one brings a cheery spot to your day, my friends.

Johnny Jump Ups are a great little flower. Nicely produced image of it Ellie
Thanks so much, Jim! I’m glad you liked this image.
Johnny Jump-up seems like the right name for this sprightly little elfin bloom. “Look at me, look at me” he’s saying as he brightens up a dark and lonely spot. How can you fail to spot him (if you’re looking, of course) with that lovely combination of colours showing and his upright stance. A perfect flower for a dull, dark and overcast day whose daylight hours are shrinking. Thank you.
I’m so glad you like my little ‘Johnny’, Janet! If it helps brighten your day it brightens mine (we’ve rain here, so I need a bit of brightness). Thanks!
Love the bright centres on these flowers they do brighten your day. also like the two little petals that look like ears coming out the top of the flower
I know, they really are like little faces, so cheery! Thanks Linda. 😀
