There is something so jaunty about flowers on the tomato plant! They seem to be all over the place, totally in disarray and yet they are some of the most determined plants I know. Leave one fruit to fall to the ground while you aren’t looking and you can be sure that next year you will find volunteers springing up all over the place, far and wide from where those seeds first settled. Don’t ask me how this happens but I am usually happy to let at least some of them grow for me, as long as they don’t interfere with other garden plans I have made. To me the flowers look like little caps to frame tiny faces. I wonder how many volunteer tomato seeds are lying asleep under their deep bed of snow right now? I can’t wait to see!
