The woodpeckers around here are really superstitious!

Week 9/26: Superstitions

The pileated woodpeckers in our woods make a terrific racket as they search for food in the trunks of the old trees and the holes that are left are impressive. I had seen this tree at the bottom of the field by the barn and knew that it would do for this theme. I knew it worked when Steven, on seeing the images said “The woodpeckers around here are really superstitious!”

  1. I still can see snow up there … :o) I was searching for the woodpecker here but then realized that it's about the wholes in this old tree. You caught it nicely in the light with all the details!

  2. +Linda Jess that's just what I thought. It's seen so much in its lifetime. I'm glad you like it. It's fun working together on these themes, too, though our individual contributions would never give a hint of it. (Excerpt when I'm the model, of course!)

  3. I rushed out when I realised I had to get this on a bright morning before the sun moved and the woods were in shade. The sunlight just hit it as I wanted it, giving the texture and detail I was hoping for, thanks for noticing, Lynn
